Year 3

Beginnings

'Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here.'

Corinthians 5:17

The children and staff gathered together to take part in Year 3’s assembly on New Beginnings. The children reflected upon scripture and reflected upon how they can always start afresh, especially in starting anew in the new school year. The children then prayed together saying our bidding prayers and sang hymns.

Year 1

Advent

‘Come let us walk in the light of the Lord.’

Isaiah 2:5

To prepare for the coming of Our Lord Jesus Christ, our Year One children led a very special and holy assembly on Advent. The whole school gathered together and reflected on this very special time, in preparation for the Birth of Jesus. The Year One children read from scripture [Isaiah] and lit candles from our Advent wreath, explaining the meaning of each candle, Hope, Peace, Joy, Love and the white one represent Christ, the light of the world. We spent time also reflecting on scripture and we prayed together.

Year One

St Jude

'Carry each other's burdens, and in this way you will fulfill the law of Christ.'

Galatians 6:2

Our Year One children led a prayerful  and heartfelt assembly about Saint Jude, the patron saint of desperate cases and lost causes. The whole school listened and learned about the life of St Jude and how he was selfless. The children were then asked to think about ways they could be selfless towards others, especially those who are in need. The Year One children offered up prayers for those who are sick and prayed that we are all guided to help those who are in need. The Year One children then talked about various charities that we, as a school can [and have in the past] support. Many of our parents joined to take part in our assembly.

Year 2

The Nativity

'She gave birth to her firstborn, a son. She wrapped him in cloths and placed him in a manger, because there was no guest room available for them.'

Luke 2: 7

To celebrate this special time of the Church's Year, the children of St Patrick's gathered together at out parish church and watched the Year 2 children retell the Nativity story. Our Year 2 children were wonderful and were supported by Year 6. Year 6 helped in leading our bidding prayers and they read passages from the Gospel. Lots of our parents attended Year 2's Nativity.

Reception

The Nativity

'Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: Behold, a virgin will be with child and bear a son, and she will call His name Emmanuel.'

Isaiah 7:14

The children in our Reception class led a wonderfully Nativity which was attended by the whole school, staff, parents and governors. The children sang hymns such as O Little Town of Bethlehem and Silent Night, and acted out what happened on the night of the birth of Our Lord, Jesus Christ. The Year One children also helped in singing and some of the Year Two children, helped in narrating the story.

Year 4

Lent

‘Even now,” declares the LORD, “return to me with all your heart, with fasting and weeping and mourning.'

Joel 2:12-14.

Year 4 led a beautiful assembly about Lent. The Year 4 children, read from scripture and led the whole school in prayer. The children and staff were reminded that Lent is a time when Christians remember that Jesus spent 40 days in the wilderness without eating before he began his special ministry. We were encouraged to be more like Jesus, to think of what we can give up at this special time and also to think of how we can do something extra. Year 4 ended their assembly with  bidding prayers and time for reflection.
